The fact is, people are <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/markmurphy\/2018\/04\/15\/neuroscience-explains-why-you-need-to-write-down-your-goals-if-you-actually-want-to-achieve-them\/#7234be497905\" target=\"_blank\">1.4 times as likely<\/a> to achieve a goal they\u2019ve already visualized.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only that, but clearly defining your company\u2019s new year\u2019s business goals can stop <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/thethrivingsmallbusiness.com\/5-barriers-to-achieving-business-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\">obstacles to your company\u2019s success<\/a> in their tracks. Some of the most common goal-stoppers for businesses include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changing strategy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unclear decision-making process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lack of resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ill-defined goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Miscommunication around priority<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the <em>WHY<\/em>, but we\u2019re here to cover the HOW! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at a handy template we created to present your company\u2019s annual goals, visually&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Business Goals Video Template In Action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We have to start this section with a classic \u201cbefore &amp; after\u201d setup. Let\u2019s take a look at the annual goals I put together for my fictional company, and the most essential elements of the video template to customize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Essential Elements to Customize<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll notice I have not changed the structure of this video. The script is solid, and allows me to establish Nick\u2019s Nightlights\u2019 company-wide goals for 2020. But I did change some essential elements in this video:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Branding&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I included the logo and brand colors for Nick\u2019s Nightlights. I\u2019m using a very simple black &amp; white theme, with the logo made of a tilted nightlight icon, and the name of the company in company font.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This logo and color scheme continue throughout the video. I also swapped out the template\u2019s backgrounds for video backgrounds that best fit the theme and feel of the topics at hand (more on that in the next section!)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Even though this isn\u2019t a marketing piece for public consumption, sticking to brand standards internally makes your brand stronger \u2014 inside and out \u2014 and gives your videos a professional look and feel.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concise text<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Every detail can\u2019t make it into a video, and that\u2019s ok! Your employees wouldn\u2019t remember every detail anyway. The most important thing for a video like this is to provide the most important overview that can tell the story of your company\u2019s success in the year to come. Customizing the text itself is simple and intuitive (again, I cover more below). Just remember to keep it brief.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clear CTA&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A call to action, or CTA, is a marketing term, but it applies to any and every piece of communication you share. Never, never, <em>never<\/em> rely on chance or goodwill for your audience to take action. <em>Tell them exactly what to do.<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, in this video, I encourage Nick\u2019s Nightlight employees to meet with their manager to make these goals a part of their own annual plan. Now these goals have actionable context for every employee, at every level. That\u2019s how you start to bridge the gap between setting goals and actually achieving them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Customize Your Business Goals Video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a quick &#8220;step-by-step&#8221; to show you everything I did to customize an optimized Powtoon template for my annual goals video.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Choose a template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is really about saving time and getting inspiration. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part, but these templates have already done most of the work. I browsed around the Company Guidelines category of templates and decided to modify the Annual Planning template.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Branding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Customize text, colors, &amp; add your logo<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your brand is your company\u2019s identity. Usually, this means defining a specific color palate, fonts, and an icon or logo that represents your brand. In this case, I created a logo for Nick\u2019s Nightlights using Powtoon\u2019s built-in assets. I simply combined the lightbulb icon (rotated slightly) with black text in \u201cUrban\u201d font. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selecting the elements and using keyboard commands to copy and paste it on additional slides is very easy, and allows you to brand your video with your own watermark. If you already have an image file of your logo, you\u2019re in luck! Simply upload your file, and you\u2019ll always have it in your media library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customizing text in Powtoon is super intuitive. Simply select any text box and start typing to modify text. But especially important is to match your brand colors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nick\u2019s Nightlights is a minimalist company, and our colors are simply White and Black. You can find those colors pre-loaded in our color menu. But you can also define the color by its hex code, use the color sampler, or color wheel to create the exact right hue. Then save to &#8220;My Colors&#8221; for easy, one-click access.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Swap out backgrounds<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Change the entire vibe of your video by replacing backgrounds with images, videos, or designs of your choice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4: Export your finished video<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re ready to export, watch one last preview to be sure you\u2019ve got every detail correct. Then jump into the export flow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can publish directly to a Powtoon player page. Or, upload your video to your favorite social, content, or marketing platform. Advanced export options are available with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.powtoon.com\/pricing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Powtoon premium plan (opens in a new tab)\">Powtoon premium plan<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5: Share, distribute, &amp; watch your vision for 2020 become a reality<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Creating your video is only half the battle. You\u2019ve got to get your video to your audience. This is an important step, but there is no hard and fast rule.
