Traditionally written by men, history has often focused on males overcoming great challenges that shape our current day attitudes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women\u2019s History Month, celebrated every year since 1987, looks to balance the history books by highlighting the often overlooked stories of significant female contributions and achievements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

American women have endured a long and difficult fight for equality, from Abigail Adams urging the Founding Fathers to remember the Founding Mothers to Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton fighting for women’s right to vote to Vice President Kamala Harris serving as the first female and women of color to hold high office in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While much progress has been made, we still have a long way to go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can make a difference now by advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs<\/a> in your own organization. Here are four ways that you can get started. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Social Media Campaigns #BreakTheBias<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

International Women\u2019s Day (IWD),  celebrated every year on March 8, celebrates the \u201csocial, economic, cultural and political achievements of women,\u201d while engaging in activities to raise awareness, funding, and action towards gender parity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual themes for IWD are a highlight of the movement, especially online. This year\u2019s theme, #breakthebias called on people to share images making the \u201ccancel\u201d \ud83d\ude45\u200d\u2640\ufe0f\ud83d\ude45\u200d\u2642\ufe0f gesture to indicate their support for a gender-neutral world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
