As part of our commitment to providing a high-quality, fast, and reliable service, Powtoon Limited ("Powtoon", "we") has established a Fair Use Policy (FUP) for our website, applications, and software (collectively referred to as the "Services"). This policy applies to all usage of the Services, whether by us, our affiliates, or any third party on our behalf.
Purpose
The FUP outlines guidelines for customers' use of the Services to ensure that each customer experiences consistently high-quality service. We take measures to ensure that usage stays within reasonable parameters, in line with the customer’s licensing agreement.
Multi-Tenant Service
Our Services operate on a multi-tenant model, meaning they are used concurrently by multiple users. If a single customer places exceptionally high demands on the Services, it could potentially impact the experience for other users.
The vast majority of our customers use the Services considerately, and their usage levels during peak hours do not disproportionately affect the shared network and service capacity. However, the activities of a small number of customers who may use the Services inappropriately have the potential to affect the overall service quality. This Fair Use Policy is in place to manage such inappropriate usage and ensure that the Services remain fair and accessible to all users.
AI Credits and Generative AI Usage
Powtoon may offer licensing tiers or subscriptions that include "unlimited" AI capabilities or AI credits. In line with industry standards, "unlimited" usage is intended to support regular, reasonable business and creative workflows generated manually by human users.
Fair Use Policy Guidelines
Monitoring and Enforcement
Usage of the Services is continuously monitored. Only customers who consistently generate exceptionally high loads over a sustained period, or whose AI consumption patterns indicate automated or abusive behavior, will be affected by this FUP.
Service Coverage
• The FUP applies to all aspects of our Services, including but not limited to compute power, storage, API calls, and Generative AI features.
• Usage of the Services is charged on a per-customer basis.
• Fair usage is defined based on the number of units or credits purchased within the customer's pricing tier.
• For enterprise tiers with un-capped or unlimited AI usage, fair usage is defined by standard commercial user behavior and infrastructure safety thresholds.
• The FUP is governed by the limits defined within each pricing tier and this policy.
Excessive Usage
If a customer repeatedly exceeds the FUP limits, or if their AI credit consumption threatens the operational stability of the multi-tenant system, Powtoon reserves the right to take protective action. This may include temporarily throttling the speed of AI generations, placing a temporary cap on further AI credit usage for the billing cycle, or applying additional charges for excessive usage.
We understand that customers may occasionally experience high volumes of activity outside normal usage patterns. In such cases, we request that customers notify us as early as possible to ensure consistent service delivery.
Changes to the Fair Use Policy
This Fair Use Policy may be updated periodically. The latest version of this document will always be available on this page.
