Relational ethics is a multifaceted notion that blends relationships with ethics. Relational Ethics is a decision-making model that outlines four core principles:
When used in conjunction with professional codes of ethics, these principles create a framework that helps practitioners deal with the numerous ethical issues that a mental health care provider may face.

Mutual
Respect
Now let's talk about
Respect for one another is motivated by duty to the other. 
Mutual Respect entails respect for oneself, others, and others' feelings. 
In the context of the relational ethic, mutual respect offers a way to relate with those who are not on an equal footing by acknowledging that our differences enrich rather than divide us. 
Respecting someone is not always simple to do. 
Mutual respect can be challenging if the helping professional perspective and the other person's point of view are different. Especially since it is required to engage with various attitudes, genders, experiences, beliefs, cultures, power, etc. 
Respect for social and health care workers involves self-reflection and empathy for others. Mutual respect between medical staff and patients leads to empowerment and power for both parties.
Engagement
Now let us talk about
Engagement is all about connecting with other people. It is rooted in the commitment that exists between people. 
Relational Engagement
Understanding another person’s circumstances, perspective, and vulnerability is necessary for ethical professional practice. 
Engagement is not only the mechanistic behavioural processes of communication such as active listening, eye contact, and touch, but also a capacity to relate and be with one another. 
Relational Engagement
Remember guys ethics are more than just abstract philosophical ideals embedded in disciplinary rules. The personal and professional values that shape our work and give it meaning are intimately woven with the ethical principles that we uphold. 
Relational ethics requires that we acknowledge the connections between therapist, client, and our larger communities rather than just giving generic advice only based on standard procedures but to look on the bigger picture.
