Medium frequency: 1 or 2 per section
Strategies

Summarize the content in a single sentence

Eliminate alternatives which refer to isolated parts of the content
Listen carefully to the beginning of the recording

Identify the main idea

Listen to the rest of the recording and adjust the main idea if needed
Understanding the reason or purpose of the conversation 
Gist-Purpose Questions

• Why did the professor ask to see the student?

• Why did the student call student services?

• Why does the student visit the professor?

Check your notes

Look for an alternative which repeats the information in the recording

If in doubt, eliminate alternatives which cannot be correct and choose among the others
