Occupational noise is the frequency of acoustic vibration that is detected by the human ear.

Noise levels are based on the frequency and decibels of sound. Any noise that is above 85 decibels over an 8-hour time period is considered dangerous.

What are the health effects of high noise levels?
Exposure to high levels of sound kills nerve endings in the inner ear. Over time, these nerve endings die, which leads to permanent hearing loss.
