An expert system is a computerised system that attempts to reproduce the decision-making process of an expert human being. There are 3 main components of the expert system:

What is expert system?
Topic 1:
The knowledge base is a database that allows the storage and retrieval of the knowledge provided by a collection of experts. It contains knowledge about the specific area for which the expert system can be used. There are two types of knowledge:

Topic 2:
Factual Knowledge
The knowledge that is widely shared and known by a lot of people.
The knowledge that is more personal and acquired through range of experiences and reasoning.
Heuristic knowledge
Two types of chaining method:

Forward-> To reach conclusion

Backward-> To prove evidence
The inference engine is the part of the expert system that makes judgements and reasoning using the knowledge base and user responses. Solving the problem requires chaining method

1. The user interface will provide a space for the user to enter characteristics of the plant or bird.
2. The characteristics inputted will be compared with the knowledge base of the expert system.
