Largest slave-trading center on the African coast.

Today it serves as a reminder of human exploitation and sanctuary for reconciliation.

Visiting Senegal’s Goree Island is one of the most popular things to do in the country.

It's a heaven of tranquility compared with the noisy streets of nearby Dakar.

No cars on the island! 
Indeed, narrow alleyways are best explored on foot.

The ferry to reach the island takes 20 minutes.

Drawbacks of the ferry:

- Drifts and recurring breakdowns
- Frequency and regularity problems
-Expensive maintenance
-Overload, atmospheric and noise pollution 
- Harmful propellers which are sources of stress for certain marine species

 Studies between 2002 and 2011 recorded  "only" a fatal accident 
Maintenance is generally less expensive than other modes of transport
Senegal is next to the sea, climate is conducive to good sun exposure which can allow a system of solar and hydraulic lift for the cable car
Advantages of the cable car
Low installation costs compared to other modes of transport
This 100% electric mean  only requires  one engine to drive the entire system and a single braking system
Logistics
The distance between Dakar plateau and the Goree Island is 2.45 kilometers. The cable car is ideal for a short link, designed to overcome a real natural obstacle. The cost of the infrastructure is also a little lower than other common modes.
This new device will allow the relief of the ferry terminal . Furthermore, it's a different cultural experience for tourists and workers who want to reach the capital land or Island.
