THE POST-WAR PERIOD SPANNED FROM 1946-1970.

On July 4, 1946, the US granted the Philippines its political independence. Yet many features of colonialism remained.
The most significant achievement of this period was the recognition afforded to Filipino writers abroad.
This volume was followed by The Laughter of My Father, a collection of humorous short stories and America Is in the Heart, an autobiography.
Carlos Bulosan put out a book of poems called Voice of Bataan immediately after the outbreak of World War II.
