HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE

VOTING IN TEXAS
PART 1: STEPS TO REGISTER
Current LTHS Freshmen will be able to vote in the 2024 Presidential Election. The law does not require citizens to vote, but voting is a very important part of any democracy. By voting, citizens are participating in the democratic process.  
STEP 1:
Confirm your registration status if you've registered in the past
STEP 2:
Make sure you are eligible to vote, discussed on later slide
STEP 3:
Fill out an online Voter Registration form or request a printed form
STEP 4:
Visit or contact your local voting registrar to complete the process
PART 2: INFORMATION ON EACH STEP
• Fill out a "Am I Registered" form
• If you have moved within a county, fill out the Secretary of State’s Voter Registration Name/Address Change
1) Confirm registration 
• Must be US Citizen and resident of county which you apply in
• Must be at least 17 years and 10 months old, or 18 by election day.
• Not a convicted felon
• Not been declared by a court to mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
2) Are you eligible
• Use vrapp.sos.state.tx.us to fill out the online voting registration form. Print, sign and mail directly to your county election office, or just request a printed application
• Remember, this must be completed at least 30 days before the upcoming election date (i.e. October 8th)
3) Fill out registration app.
• Contact or visit your local voter registrar found at www.sos.state.tx.us/to complete the voter registration process.
4 ) Local registrar
30 DAYS BEFORE THE ELECTION DATE 
(30 DAYS BEFORE NOVEMBER 8)
