Each part of a course code has a specific meaning.
Number of Units

Course Terminology
Each part of a course code has a specific meaning.
Subject is associated with the Department or School who hosts the course.

Level is used to describe a student’s progression through a program and indicate which courses are for which students.

Unique Identifier identifies the specific courses within the Level.

Units define the number of credits associated with a course. A unit is roughly equivalent to one lecture-hour per week for one term or two hours of laboratories or seminars per week for one term. Three-unit courses are usually one term in length. Six-unit courses are usually two terms in length.
Level I (First Year) Medical Radiation Sciences students enrol in the following courses:
- MEDRADSC 1B03 - Introduction to Pathology 
- MEDRADSC 1C03 - Introduction to Physics for Medical Radiation Sciences
- MEDRADSC 1E03 - Inquiry in Medical Radiation Sciences 
- MEDRADSC 1F03 - Professions in Medical Radiation Sciences
- BIOLOGY 1A03 - Cellular and Molecular Biology 
- KINESIOL 1Y03 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I 
- KINESIOL 1YY3 - Human Anatomy and Physiology II

- One of:
  MATH 1A03 - Calculus For Science I 
  MATH 1LS3 - Calculus for the Life Sciences I
  MATH 1MM3 - Applied Calculus
 
- 6 units of Elective (2 courses of interest)  
Course Selection
- Honours Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences (McMaster)
Honours Bachelor of Medical 
Radiation Sciences (B.M.R.Sc.)
Three areas of specialization starting in Level II:
In collaboration with Mohawk College Applied Arts & Technology
Graduates receive both:
- Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Medical Radiation Sciences
- Radiation Therapy
- Radiography
- Ultrasonography
After Level I there are three areas of specialization starting in Level II for students to choose from. Space in these specializations is limited.

Radiation Therapy

Level II Specializations 
Includes discipline-specific courses in:  
- radiation physics and safety
- radiation biology
- human anatomy and pathology
Focuses on the uses of radiation, such as 
x-rays, gamma rays, electron beams or protons, to kill cancer cells or damage them so they cannot grow or multiply.
After Level I there are three areas of specialization starting in Level II for students to choose from. Space in these specializations is limited.

Radiography
Level II Specializations 
Includes discipline-specific courses in: 
- radiation physics and safety
- radiation biology
- human anatomy and pathology
- radiographic equipment
- radiographic imaging procedures
- image analysis and film interpretation
- computed tomography (CT scanning)
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
After Level I there are three areas of specialization starting in Level II for students to choose from. Space in these specializations is limited.

Ultrasonography
Level II Specializations 
Includes discipline-specific courses in: 
- ultrasound physics and instrumentation
- human anatomy and pathology
- abdominal, obstetrical and pelvic
- musculoskeletal and vascular procedures
- patient care and safety
- pediatric sonography.
