And today we are going to have our discussion about
Let's start our discussion by presenting our lesson's objectives.
What is ARTICULATION?
Articulation is the process by which sounds, syllables, and words are formed when your tongue, jaw, teeth, lips, and palate alter the air stream coming from the vocal folds.

It makes a speech interesting and appealing.

It focuses on making individual sounds clear and intelligible.

A well-articulated voice adds to an interesting speech. 
What does articulate mean?
To articulate means to say or pronounce something in a way that can be clearly heard and understood like expressing an idea or a thought in words. 
What are the principles that develop good articulation and clarity of meaning? 
Pronunciation should be practiced. It makes all the difference. When consonants and vowels are properly sounded and syllables are accentuated, words give form and clear sense to the intended meaning.

To be able to avoid mispronunciation:

a. Visualize the word spelled out on paper.

b. Record yourself before giving a speech.

c. Listen for mispronounced words.

d. Take necessary pauses.

e. Check the proper accentuation to remember how to say the word/s.

Articulate well, which means mind your vowels and consonants as they pass through your lips and mouth.

Practice once, twice, or thrice until it becomes a habit.

That's all for articulation. 
Now let's proceed to MODULATION.
WHAT IS MODULATION?
Modulation in speaking means a change stress, pitch, loudness, or tone of voice and an inflection of the voice.

In simple words it means to enhance emphasis in words with rising and lowering tones adding subtle meaning. 
WHY DO WE MODULATE?
We modulate to facilitates the understanding of your speech as it gives more meaning to your voice and makes your voice sound attractive.

Here are the components of  voice modulation.
 Pace or Speech Speed 
If you naturally speak fast even if the words are clearly spoken, an unbroken fast speed will exhaust your audience mentally.

Equally, a very slow speaker causes the audience to lose concentration as their minds want to go faster than the speaker.

So, learn to slow and speed up when needed.

2. Pitch or Depth of Voice
According to Flores & Lopez (2009), pitch is the location of the sound on the musical scale and is determined by the tension applied by the tone-producing mechanism- the vocal cords. Pitch is another element of voice which shows emotion. 
3. Pause

Observe pauses at required intervals like when there is punctuation. 
4. Power

In order to make your voice powerful, you should not speak from your mouth but from inside the abdomen, make it commanding by generating intensity in your voice. Vary not just the loudness (volume) but also the power or intensity that you use in your voice.

5. Volume

Make sure that everybody in the audience can hear you without straining. Project your voice so that your audience who are seated in the last rows in the room will hear you audibly.

6. Emphasis

Put emphasis by placing some stress or focus on the key words or syllables in order to provide contrast to your words and to bring out their desired meaning.

7. Inflection

Inflection means the ups and downs of words. Inflection links meaning and feeling with your words. Varying your tone throughout the speech – raising your voice slightly to indicate a question, lowering it to end a declarative sentence, speaking louder to indicate excitement or softer to express sadness – will help keep your audience awake and alert!

An important principle of speech delivery is the use of articulation and modulation. Articulation helps us to produce sounds that are clear and can be easily understood by the audience/listener. Modulation enhance emphasis in words with rising and lowering of tones. Thus, mastering the principles of speech delivery makes a speech appealing and interesting.
