Title I Annual Parent Meeting 
Listen-Learn-Lead
The Waccamaw Way 
It's the largest federal assistance program for our schools.  The goal of Title I is to ensure that all children especially those who are considered "at risk" get a high quality education.  
What is Title I?
Title I benefits everyone. 
It helps:

~children be more successful in school.

~parents and families become more involved in their child's education.

~teachers and school staff understand the needs and concerns of students and parents.
What is a School-Wide Title I program? 
It's a program that allows an eligible school to use federal funds for its educational program.
  
A school-wide program provides support and services to raise the achievement of all students.

A school-wide Title I program is meant to benefit the entire school community.  
Key Components of Title I 
Needs Assessment 
A planning team looks at the school's strengths and weaknesses related to students performance.

School-wide Plan
Based on the needs assessment, a comprehensive plan is developed to 
help all students do their best in school.

Each year school staff, parents, and community members on our Title I planning team,  work together to develop our school-wide and parenting plans.

Our school-wide plan outlines goals and strategies to:
~provide professional development to ensure that students receive high-quality instruction from effective teachers

~increase parent and family engagement

Yearly Review 
Each year, the school must determine whether the goals have been met.

WES Title I Funding 
Our School-Wide Title I Plan funds: 
~three K-5th staff interventionists to target students needs 
~a full-time instructional coach
~a family school facilitator 
~ an onsite fourth grade field trip (Camp Flintlock) 
~a fifth grade field trip to the Riverside Zoo 
~extra instructional supplies 
~new technology software - Liveschool Program

WES Title I Funding 
Our Parenting Title I Plan funds: 
~ Kindergarten orientation  
~ Title I Annual Parent Meeting
~ Family Literacy Camp Out
~ Family Arts Night 
~ Spanish translation of all parenting      information
~Weekly Storytime with "Baby Wildcats" 
~Family engagement concert with Jim Gill  
~Monthly parent workshops on a variety of topics 
  
As a parent of a student, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of classroom teachers and instructional assistants who instruct your child.
  
If substitutes (not properly certified) service students for four or more weeks, a letter must be sent to parents explaining the current classroom status.

The parent and family engagement policy explains how the school intends to involve parents and improve parent programs.  
School-Parent Compact
A compact is a written agreement that outlines what teachers, school staff, students and parents need to do to help all students meet the state education standards.  
A school-parent compact is a plan of action.  
 When parents are involved in their children's education everyone benefits.  
As a parent, you play
 an important role.  
Support your child's learning at home.  
~Make sure your child gets to school on time each day.

~Talk with your child about school.

~Stay positive and praise your child's efforts.

~Set up a quiet place for your child to study and do homework.

~Read together often.  
You're an important part of the Title I team.
~attending Title I Planning Team, School Improvement Council, or PTO meetings.

~learning about your rights and responsibilities under the program.

~assessing whether Title I is meeting your child's needs, and offering suggestions for improvement.

~reviewing the parent-school compact.

~following the parent and family engagement policy.
