Bagaimana cara menghitung pH larutan asam dan basa ?

= -log [H  ]

=  -log  [OH   ]

pH = 14 - pOH

Asam Kuat

1. Hitunglah pH larutan HCl 0,1 M!

Jawab ;

pH= -log [H⁺]

= -log 0,1

= 1
Asam Lemah

2. Hitunglah pH larutan CH3COOH 0,1 M      (ka=   1 × 10⁻⁵) !
Jawab :

[H⁺]= √(ka ×M)
      = √(1 × 10^(-5)×0,1 )
       = √(10⁻⁶) = 10⁻³
pH= -log [H⁺]
     = -log 10⁻³
     = 3
Basa Kuat

3. Hitunglah pH larutan KOH 0,01 M!
Jawab :

pOH= -log 0,01
        = -log 10⁻² =2
  pH = 14-pOH
        = 14 – 2
        = 12
Basa Lemah

4. Hitunglah pH larutan NH4OH 0,2 M (kb= 1 × 10⁻⁵) !

Jawab :

[OH⁻]= √(kb×M)
         = √(1 × 10^(-5)×0,2 )
         = √(2×10⁻⁶) = 1,4 × 10⁻³
pOH = -log [OH⁻]
         = -log 1,4 × 10⁻³
         = 3 –log 1,4
pH= 14 – (3 –log 1,4)
     = 11 + log 1,4
     = 11,14
