There are 2 types of Volunteers

Screened Volunteers
 Volunteers
A volunteer is any person in the community serving the district free of charge.  A volunteer should never be left alone with a student.  Volunteers include those who participate in field trips, field days, class parties, or classroom helpers.
A screened volunteer is someone who has successfully completed a background check.  Typically, these volunteers will be in direct supervision of students and/or will have access to some student information.  Your school will help you determine if screening will be required.
Both types of volunteers should follow these protocols

Protecting Students

School Policies
 Maintain professional boundaries, as would be expected of staff members. Do not date or have sexual relationships with students.

Don't lend money to students or bring them gifts (other than greeting cards or stickers).

Do not transport students or ask to meet them outside of school.

Professional Relationships
Do not dress, change diapers, or provide personal hygiene assistance to students.

Do not supply students with medication.

Use standard precautions  to avoid contact with body fluids.

Health & Safety
Volunteers will not photograph  students unless authorized by the building principal.  Please keep cell phones silent and discreet while volunteering.

Do not search students or student property.

Keep all student information confidential.

Student Privacy
Volunteers will not discriminate against or harass any person .

Harassment, bullying or discrimination observed by the volunteer should be reported to administration.

Volunteers will  not direct students to remove an emblem, insignia, or garment, including those of a religious nature.

Report any suspected cases of abuse or neglect to your building principal.

Protecting Students
Volunteers will follow all school policies, procedures, and other rules established by the district.

If using a district computer, you will be asked to sign in and agree to our technology acceptable use statement.

All volunteers will sign in and out of the office and document hours volunteered at school.

Younger siblings, including preschoolers and infants,  are not permitted to attend with volunteers.

 School Policies
To be eligible to volunteer, please complete the Google Form located near the link to this video.  This is an acknowledgment of your completion of the video and understanding of policy.

We appreciate you taking an active role to support and enhance the development of our children.  Volunteers are a very important part of the educational process in our community.  The tremendous donation of time, talents, skills, experience, warmth and attention are invaluable to students and teachers.
