Machine learning is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that learns on its own through analyzing data without needing to be programmed with that new information. 
What is machine learning?
All of our searches, purchases, and browser history can be sold, acquired, and accessed by companies to learn more about you to sell more effectively to you. 
The more data the machine has, the more it knows about you.

Facebook and Google
Big Data allows companies to advertise on a microscopic individual level, with algorithms even learning how to target people with bipolar disorder about to enter a manic phase.
