Capitals
Georgia's

Savannah
Savannah became Georgia's first capital in 1776, when the United States declared it's independence from Great Britain. 
Augusta 
In 1778, Savannah was captured by British forces, and Georgia's government officials fled north to Augusta. After the Revolutionary war, Savannah and Augusta were both used as the state's capital. In 1785, it was decided that all future legislature would take place in Augusta. 
Louisville 
As Georgia's population expanded westward, it was decided that the capital should be moved to be more centrally located. Louisville, in Jefferson county, was officially designated as the capital in 1789.
Milledgeville
Only seven years after Louisville had been made the capital, a push to move came again. In 1804, an act to build a new capital was passed. This new capital would be named after the current governor, John Milledge. 
Atlanta
Following the Civil War, Georgia was placed under military authority. After recently elected black legislatures were denied rooms at inns in Milledgeville, Major General John Pope ordered the capital be moved. Atlanta became Georgia's fifth and current capital in 1868
