DACA Effects/Policy Changes from 2016-2020 
2016 
“Trump gives a campaign speech in Arizona, stating that part of his plan if elected president is to immediately terminate President Obama’s two illegal executive amnesties, in which he defied federal law and the constitution to give amnesty to approximately 5 million illegal immigrants.”
2017 
“Trump administration rescinds DACA; the then-acting Homeland Secretary Elaine Duke announced on September 15,2017 that DACA would be phased out for current recipients and that no new requests for temporary protection from deportation under DACA would be granted.”
2018 
“U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco issued a nationwide order blocking the Trump administration’s repeal of DACA. He said it was based on a flawed legal premise that the Obama-era policy was illegal. The judge acted on lawsuits brought by California and several other Democrativ-led states.”
2019 
“..The U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will hear the case on DACA to determine the future of the program.”
2020
June 18th, “..The U.S. supreme Court ruled to allow the DACA program to continue.” The following month of July the Trump administration released a memo continuing to restrict the DACA program.” On Nov.14th a U.S. district court found that the July 2020 memo, was issued without legal authority.On November 18th, “the court held a conference and ordered both sides in the lawsuit to submit legal briefs about what the court should require the federal government to do in order to enact its ruling.” As of early December, the U.S. district court ordered the July 2020 memo to be vacated, and “As a result, the government must accept initial DACA applications, DACA renewal requests, and applications for advance parole from DACA recipients.” 
What are the challenges moving forward? And what can be done in the future? 
   - 2020: The supreme court ordered the administration to accept new DACA applicants, however they have denied all new applicants instead
The Future 
   - Holder higher standards to those in ICE & those who are working at the detention centers
   - The process of receiving citizenship/status sooner than years later
   - ICE only arresting and removing those with criminal records instead of those who striving for a better life but are undocumented
   - Stop denying asylum to those who are in danger
   - Biden claims in the first 100 days in office he will reverse the Trump Administration’s policy of Family separation at the border, asylum policies, end prolonged detention, protect those under DACA
   - A BETTER SYSTEM!
Final Message !!!
There are millions of immigrants looking for a better environment and more opportunities in a new country. Immigrants helped build and sustain this country. The reintegration of the DREAM Act would show support for undocumented immigrants. DACA is only a temporary emotional pause on the worry that millions face. Abolishing programs such as ICE would provide potential investments in America’s future immigrants, thus improving the way of life of immigrants.
