Hello there mathematicians!
I'm Sammy Square!
I was just looking around this classroom and thinking about the many shapes I can see  around me. 
What shapes can you see in your classroom?
Our world is made up of so many shapes, From the rectangular table you sit at, to the square window you look out of, the circular ball you play with or even the triangular slice of pizza that you eat. 
Understanding shapes like me helps us understand our world! 
 Today we are going to talk about 2D Shapes and the attributes that help us determine their area!
The various qualities of a shape are called attributes. For example, how many sides or corners it may have.
Today we have a very special shapely guest who has both similar and different attributes to me!
Meet Roma Rectangle. 
Everyone say hello to Roma!

Though we look different we still share a similar attribute.
We both have 4 sides each.

We are also different because I have  equal sides, but
Roma Rectangle’s sides are not all equal. Instead each opposite side is equal to each other.

Roma and I are 2D Shapes. We have two dimensions. A length and a width.
