1. Make a copy of enclosed document
2. Based on horizontal team's gradelevel, pick two content standards to dissect 
Content Standard 2.2.3
2.2 Students demonstrate map skills by describing the absolute and relative locations of people, places, and environments.
            3.Locate on a map where their ancestors live(d), telling when the family moved to thelocal community and how and why they made the trip.
Content Standard 2.1.3
2.1 Students differentiate between things that happened long ago and things
that happened yesterday.
                       3.Place important events in their lives in the order in which they occurred (e.g., on a
time line or storyboard).
 
3. Explain your process of the two content standards & substandards
After reviewing the History-Social Science Content Standards, I reflected on the standards to focus on. I wanted content standards that the student can relate to and apply in their lives. 
For the first content standard, I chose one that is realted to the students lives. As a teacher it allows me to learn more about events that changed my students life and which ones are meaningful to them and why.  
Step 1: Typed out the content standard which includes the gradel level, standard, and sub-standard 
Grade level 2, the first standard, and the third sub-standard
Step 2: Recognized the level of cognition from the content standard 
place  
Step 3: Obtained the defintion of "place" from the Merriam Webster Deictionary website

Step 4: Identified the content from the content standard
between things that happened long ago and things that happened yesterday.
Step 5: Thought about three things that I may know regarding the topic 
There will be a start, middle and future There will be number of years I know what the past is 
Step 6: Identified three sources that could provide information about the content

For the second content standard, I chose one that relates to the students families. As a teacher its my duty to be able to understand their personailities and their enviornments. 
Step 1: Typed out the content standard which includes grade level, standard, and sub-standard
 grade level 2, the second standard, and the third substandard
Step 2: recognized the level of coginition from the content standard 
Locate 
Step 3: Retrieved the defintion of "Locate" from the Merriam Webster Dictionary 
to determine or indicate the place, site, or limit

Step 4: Identified the content from the content standard 
on a map where their ancestors live(d), telling when the family moved to the local community and how and why they made the trip.
Step 5: Typed three things that I already know regarding the content 
Most people usually migrate to California.Families usually migrate to other countries to be financally stable. The families must leave their whole life behind and start all over.

What do you find cricital to your understanding during this process?
It it criticial for me to able to understand the different steps in a content standard. It's important as a future educator to be able to write and objective down on the board and understand the content and the level of coginition. 
The Purpose of Content Standards 
Content Standards are the foundation of the classroom cirrculum. For instance in our book  chapter 4 it states that teachers often feel over whelmed because of all the content standards. The content standards were meant to help teachers decide on what to teach instead of how to do it. The teachers focus need to be on the content standards and how to apply it their classroom with student supports if needed.
