VI.a Microscopic Anatomy of Stem
Set up a compound light microscope and set the slide of the prepared slides on it.Focus it on LPO and then shift it to HPO.Observe the stem across a section under scanning power. At this magnification, you will be able to see vascular bundles within the stem. In the space below, diagram the location of the vascular bundles within the stem. You need to draw/capture photos within the cell; just provide relative locations of the vascular bundles to one another.Observe the cross-section of the stem under LPO. The cells should be more visible MOVE the slide so a vascular bundle is centered in your field of view.
Note: The underlined procedures will be demonstrated in the second video
Procedure
Monocot Stem - Zea mays (corn) stem
 1. Observe the old stem section under LPO and HPO.
Locate the structures such as the xylem, phloem, parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerenchyma tissues.Locate the epidermis, cortex, and stele.
 2. C. Study under LPO and HPO epidermal view section of
      leaf. Notice the nature of cells.
 3. Describe how the cells are arranged/ arrangement of
      the vascular bundles.
 4. Draw or upload/paste a capture picture/image and
      label the anatomy of the monocot stem.

Study the cross-section and longitudinal section of Aristolochia and Cucurbita stem under LPO and HPO.Locate the epidermis, cortex, and stele.Describe how the cells are arranged/ arrangement of the vascular bundles.Describe the major differences between young and old stems. Draw or upload/paste a capture picture/image and label the anatomy of the dicot stem.
