According to the Big Bang theory there was a big explosion that gave rise to the appearance of matter. There is a key fact that proves this idea the expansion of the universe. According to the astronomers if there is a constant expansion of the universe the movement that was generated had to start at a certain moment.

 It was a Catholic priest and astronomer, the Belgian George Lamaître who first hypothesized in 1927 with the possibility that the universe was compressed into a small point the primordial atom that at one time expanded and gave rise to everything we know now, including space and time. Just a couple of years later the American astronomer Edwin Hubble discovered that galaxies are moving away from us at great speed. He also observed that the farther they are from us the faster they move away. After analyzing the data, he concluded that the universe expands uniformly. This means that at some time in the past all the galaxies in the universe were piled up in the same place at the same time.
