Ang dignidad ay ang karapatan ng isang tao na mabigyan ng respeto at pagpapahalaga mula sa iba. 
Bawat isang tao ay mayroong dignidad at hindi dapat nakasalalay ang pagkakaroon nito sa anyo, edad, o estado sa buhay.
May mga taong hindi pinapahalagahan ang kanilang sarili, at lumalaki sila ng walang galang sa sarili. Karamihan ng mga dahilan dito ay dahil sa trauma, o di kaya sa impluwensya ng mga nasa paligid nila.
May mga tao naman na dahil sa kanilang mga katayuan sa buhay ay hindi naman nirerespeto ng ibang tao. Iilan sa mga ito ay ang mga single parents, ang mga indigenous groups, at ang LGBTQ+ community.
