How did that feel?
Think back to a moment in your life when the word "no" stung a little more than usual.
Today, we’re diving into a perspective often overlooked:
Imagine a time when you rejected someone.
the viewpoint of the person doing the rejecting.

What was their reaction?
Did you wish you could have said something differently?

We don’t usually approach rejection with the intention to hurt someone, but we often end up doing so.
We’ve all been on both sides of rejection, 
What if there was a way that we could help soften that blow for others?
and it’s time to explore how we can navigate these situations more gently.

We investigated this idea by focusing on aspects of language that might benefit the person being rejected.
Four basic principles that may reduce harm felt by those rejected:
use of positive regard
offering sincere alternatives
use of more words
no apologies

Our Study
Read scenarios about real-life rejections
Each scenario included a different combination of the four language principles
"How would you feel if you were the person receiving that rejection?"
