_abc Powtoon Transcript

A microcontroller-based open source electronic prototyping board which can be programmed with an easy-to-use Arduino IDE.

It consists of both a physical programmable circuit board and a piece of software, or IDE.

Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled form or as do-it-yourself (DIY) kits.

WHAT IS ARDUINO?
HISTORY OF ARDUINO
• The Arduino project was started at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea (IDII) in Ivrea, Italy and students used a BASIC Stamp microcontroller.
 
• In 2003 Hernando Barragán created the development platform, Wiring as a Master's thesis project at IDII, under the supervision of Massimo Banzi and Casey Reas.
• In 2005, Massimo Banzi, with David Mellis and David Cuartielles, added support for the cheaper ATmega8 microcontroller to Wiring. They forked the project and renamed it Arduino.
• In October 2016, Federico Musto, Arduino's former CEO, secured a 50% ownership of the company.
In October 2017, Arduino announced its partnership with ARM Holdings (ARM) and they continue to work with all technology vendors and architectures.
