Two hungry men, Tom and Chad, had both decided to order menus costing 250 PHP and 300 PHP, respectively. Tom, despite finishing his meal, was still hungry. So he ordered more potato salad which costs 50 PHP per serving. Seeing this, Chad's appetite also grew, and so he ordered more; this time he chose the Caesar salad that costs 55 PHP per serving.  
Mathematical Model
Tom's Final Bill: 
f(x) = 50x + 250
Where x represents the number of potato salad servings Tom ordered.
Chad's Final Bill:
g(x) = 55x + 300
Where x represents the number of Caesar salad servings Chad ordered.
If both Tom and Chad ordered 5 salad each, how much is their combined bill? 
Solution:
Given: 
f(x) = 50x + 250 ;  g(x) = 55x + 300 ; x = 5
(f + g)(x)  = f(x) + g(x)
                 = 50x + 250 + 55x + 300
                 = 105x + 550
                 = 105(5) + 550
                 = 525 + 550
 (f + g)(5) = 1075   
Their total bill will be 1075 PHP given that they both order 5 salads each.
Kevin is the breadwinner of their family. He is responsible for feeding his siblings 2 times a day, one for lunch, one for dinner. During his job hunting, he was only able to get a low-paying job because of his educational background. In this job, he was paid 200 a day. 
Mathematical Model
Kevin's Salary:
f(x) = 200x
Where x represents the number of days he works.
Number of time he has to feed his siblings:
g(x) = 8(2x)
Where x represents the number of days where he feeds his siblings.
if Kevin were to work for 31 days, how much could he allot to each sibling per meal?
Solution:
Given: 
f(x) = 200x ;  g(x) = 8(2x) ; x = 31
Because of his situation, Kevin can only allot 12.50 pesos to each of his siblings per meal.
