Career Fair Preparation 
ARE YOU READY FOR THE CAREER FAIR?
Preparing for a career fair can help you leave a positive impression with employers. 
1) Let's begin by signing up for the career fair on the Handshake app.

2) Don't forget to do your research on companies & organizations you are interested in.

3) Prepare your resume and some questions to ask
Update and proofread your resume 
print a few copies before hand to share with employers 
Prepare a few questions to ask employers 
Sample Questions to ask employers...
- What are the most important skills you look for in a candidate as an intern?

-What is your favorite part about working in this company?

- Can you describe a typical day for someone in this position?

- What are the opportunities for professional development and growth within the company?

- Can you tell me more about ....
4) Prepare and practice your elevator pitch
Keep your elevator pitch concise. It should be 30-60 seconds long 
Introduce yourself, your major and your career interest
End your elevator pitch off with an open ended question for the employers to answer
5) Prepare your outfit. We recommend dressing in business casual. Some examples include:
Collared shirts, such as knit, polo, or banded collar-type
Pressed or ironed casual slacks, such as khakis or chinos
Casual dresses, or skirts 
5) At the career fair visit different employers' tables to gather information. 
6) Network with employers at the career fair. Here are some tips:
Visit the employers tables you are interested in and introduce yourself, deliver your elevator pitch
share your resume and ask employers questions
Take notes and get employer's contact information or business cards. 
Do not forget to follow up with  employers. 
Send a thank you email!
You are now ready for the career fair!
