According to this article, knowledge of text structures and language of expository text has been a contributing factor in reading achievement in later years. It has attributed to 23% of Reading comprehension scores in 8 year olds.

Adding four or more expository interactive story books within the classroom can help. The text should be relative to the students life and or a natural occurance such as the life cycle of a butterfly.

- Provide positive feedback that involves active listening and being responsive to children’s behavior and utterances.
- Modeling and facilitating children answering literal and answer questions during reading time.
- Plan Activities that extent beyond the book.
