Q1: What type of plant research you are conducting?
At the moment I have two research project involving plants:

1) Characterizing putative genes that involved in regulating programmed cell death by endoplamis reticulum (ER) in rice

2) Establishing cell suspension and hairy root culture of shy plant 
Q2: What type of plants you usually work on? Why? 
Oryza sativa
Mimosa pudica
Why? 
1) Oryza sativa

It is a staple food in Malaysia and also a good model plant as well. ER stress linked to drought and high salinity stress and often rice are exposed to these environmental threats

2) Mimosa pudica

We often see it as a wild weed but it actually posseses Ayuverdic properties such as antidiabetic and wound healing potential
Q3: What type of approach and technique do you normally employed for the plant research? 
" The first project involves a lot of molecular work e.g. gene expression studies, cloning, cell death assays. The second project involves plant tissue cultures techniques as mention in Q1 "
Q4: What trait that you usually look in your plants? 
"In rice project, I am looking for the ability of the trasnformed plants to have increased resistance against ER stress"
I"n shy plant, I am looking for the production of secondary metabolites that are responsible for its Ayuverdic properties
Q5: What are some of the main objectives that you aim for when conducting the plant research? 
"Our world is facing climate change. My main objective is about crops improvement. I wanted to produce a stronger plants that can produce enough food for everyone"
Q6: Do you use genetic engineering in your research? If yes, can you explain a little bit. 
Yes, mainly the rice project . We generated a plasmid containing a protease called metacaspase, attached to a GFP tag, and overexpressed the protease in the rice.
