Fenestrelle Fortress

Commissioned by Vittorio Amedeo, Duke of Savoy in 1713, Fenestrelle Fortress was intended to defend Italy in the eighteenth century Since 1999 it has become the symbol of the Province of Turin. 
Description
In 2007 the World Monuments Fund is included in the list of the 100 most endangered historical-archaeological sites of global significance. 
Fenestrelle Fort is three kilometers long, covering a large area.
The fortress consists of several sections: 
St. Charles Fortress
Royal port 
Three-Tooth Fortress
Fortress of the Valleys 
Carlo Alberto 
Redoubt Governor's Palace

It contains several buildings, including churches, museums and is surrounded by the Rocciavre Bear National Park. 
 The construction of the Fenestrelle Fort lasted 122 years, from 1728 to 1850 The fort was also a prison, only to cede its military function in 1947 Then it was subject to structural damage and vegetation overgrowth. 
Thanks to the non-profit organization Progetto San Carlo, in 1990 the Great Alpine Wall also called the Fort of Fenestrelle, saw its rebirth. 
Repair and maintenance are still going on thanks to public and private funds. Many visitors are now able to admire the site every year.
