*  Amputation is becoming huge problem. 
*  India has about one million amputees & 23,500 are added every year
*  Recent studies shows-69% of Delhi people aged b/w 38-68 has bone loss due to osteoporosis and osteopenia.
*  Causes- tumors in bones, peripheral vascular diseases, injuries, osteomyelitis ,blood clots, diabetes etc.,.
By the end of 2050 -60 million cases in India
Orthopedic device market in India:
Nearly 80% for knee and hip combined.
Only 20% are being done by Indian companies
Innovation content
*  Biomimetic scaffolds are newly emerging solution.
*  Idea -to develop the scaffold design inspired by the bamboo tree cross-section using 3d printer.
*  Structures inspired from nature are used for solving the human problems 
*  Objectives:
*   To study the existing structural designs.
*   To create prototype using Additive manufacturing.
*   To validate the prototype.
