Before you start, you should know...               What is a sentence?

Here are some definitions that are...
1st definition:

“A group of words, usually containing a verb, that expresses a thought in the form of a statement, question, instruction, or exclamation and starts with a capital letter when written.”

Cambridge Dictionary

2nd definition:

“A set of words that is complete in itself, typically containing a subject and predicate, conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command, and consisting of a main clause and sometimes one or more subordinate clauses.”

Lexico, by Oxford Dictionary.

3rd definition:

“A group of words which, when they are written down, begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop, question mark, or exclamation mark. Most sentences contain a subject and a verb.”

Collins Dictionary

In other words,

A sentence is a grammatically complete idea that communicates a message. It has two basic structural parts:                        subject and predicate (including the verb).

For example:
     I speak English and Spanish.

I (subject) 
             speak (verb) 
  speak English and Spanish (predicate)

Mmmm...What's the difference?
Purpose
Structure
Sentences are classified in two groups.

According to their...
"Purpose" refers to the intention, meaning,    or objective that the sentence has.

And “Structure” is about how simple or complex a sentence can be depending on its number of clauses.

Note: A clause is a sentence or part of it  with a subject and a predicate.
