SAFETY IN LANDING GEAR RETRACTION

Hi, my name is Nazmi. I am going to be sharing about the topic that I have chosen which is 'Safety in Landing Gear Retraction'
In airplanes, there are some landing gear safety devices that helps to prevent the gear from retracting while the airplane is on the ground.
This device is known as a landing gear safety switch.
How does this device ensure safety in landing gears?
The switch is connected to one of the system's operating circuits which helps prevent the gear to retract while the airplane is on the ground
This is an external device which is known as a ground lock
What makes this device a safety feature on the landing gears?
They are placed into the pre-drilled holes of the gear components that keeps the gear from collapsing.
They can also be clamped onto the exposed piston of the gear retraction cylinder that prevents it from retracting
There are also some practices that can be done in order to keep the aircraft's landing gears in good condition

- They can cause the landing gears to have cracks due to hydrogen embrittlement

- Ensures that the critical components are operating smoothly by preventing water and corrosion-causing substances from getting into the system

- Any damage cause on the landing gear system's pressurised shock-absorbing struts could cause potential failure from metal fatigue
