Ancient Greek instruments: pan flute
A musical wind instrument first used by the ancient greeks 
What is a pan flute?
In Greek Mythology, Pan, the patron of shepherds falls in love with the Nymph; Syrinx. 
Pan captures Syrinx so she calls out to Zeus for help.
ZEUS HELP!
Zeus turns Syrinx into reeds
Out of anger pan crushes the reeds to pieces!
Once he realized what he had done he was sad. As Pan cried over the broken reeds he realized that his breath made a sound. 
Pan then made the pan flute to represent his love.
Pan flutes are made from four to eighteen cane tubes and wax is used to fasten them together
How it's made:
When I made my replica of the pan flute I had to substitute a few things...
1. PVC Pipes instead of cane tubes

2. Hot and super glue for wax
If you are creating your own flute you may need to pause for the next few minutes so that you can follow the instructions.

Cut each piece and file the edges down. Next use sand paper to sand each pipe. This is how the paint will stick to the pipe and give it a wooden look like the original pan flutes have.
Measure each piece of pipe. If it needs to be accurate pitches then you will have to use specific measurements. Otherwise I suggest starting with 3 inch piece and increasing 1.5 inches each new piece.

Starting with the shortest pipes you will need to do a line of glue on the inside of the pipe. Stick the next piece on making sure that the end that you blow into are level. Repeat for all of the pieces 
Once the paint is all dry you can now start putting it together. I started by drawing a curve on paper that was like the on i wanted my flute to have so that i could align my flute with it for accuracy. 
Use hot glue at one end of each pipe. This is how each pipe will make sound. Make sure there are no air holes. Blow on each pipe when done to make sure there are none. Now you can paint each pipe. I suggest 2 or 3 coats.

Paint over any imperfections made when glueing. When its dry you can now decorate with pom poms, string etc.
