They are found in the Kosciuszko National Park and Alpine National Park in Victoria.

Mountain Pygmy-possums feed primarily on the Bogong Moth. This moth is rich in protein and crucial to the possums gaining sufficient fat reserves for winter and hibernation. Other insects will be consumed which include caterpillars, spiders and beetles. Seeds to native flora species will also be eaten

What is being done ?

Conservation agency staff in Victoria and New South Wales are working closely with ski resort operators to protect this tiny possum
minimising the impacts and disturbances due to ski field activities
conclusion
Although the Mountain Pygmy-possum is highly vulnerable to extinction, it can be saved.

Over the last three years we have seen a rise in Mountain Pygmy-possums across New South Wales and Victoria.
