Powtoon Acquires Showbox! Speeding Up the Pace of Video Innovation

It’s not every day that you get to announce something this… BIG! Powtoon has acquired Showbox!!!!

What’s a Showbox?

Showbox is a cloud-based video creation software, built around awesome technology they developed with over $12 million in funding. Among other things, they developed an elegant green screen solution, specifically designed for our face-to-camera world.

Wait, Powtoon Bought a Company?

It’s true! We have been watching the trends develop. In addition to everything we’re doing on the cutting edge of video technology, we also want to be sure we’re helping YOU leverage the latest video capabilities.

We are surrounded by YouTube these days. And the intimate, face-to-camera style there is revolutionizing how we think of video content. But it still takes a rack of equipment to get it just right.

If we could do for green screen technology what we did for animated explainer videos, we’d be putting our foot on the gas pedal of video development.

Our CEO, Ilya Spitalnik, puts it this way:

We started Powtoon to help people communicate better, and in 2019 the best way to get your message across is by painting a picture in someone’s mind with short, engaging videos. Our greatest achievement has been to make this process as easy as can be.
The thing that excites me most is that incorporating Showbox into the Powtoon platform will make it even easier for anyone to create awesome videos regardless of their technical or design background. We’re fast approaching the point where if you can think it, you can powtoon it.
